• Fair warning, I haven't finished. I didn't need to. I love reading because it provides an escape. This on the other hand...this book reassured me that I'm not alone. If you aren't a mom, it won't make sense. I know because before I was a mom, I didn't appreciate the power coffee had. I didn't understand the real joy Target provided. I didn't understand what lonely was. I didn't understand that once this child was here things would NEVER be the same, you just get a quick reminder of how things were every once in a while. You know who gets it? BUNMI. Even if you can't fully relate to Ashley, you appreciate her struggle because her struggle is all of our struggle. I wasn't a former business woman turn stay at home mom but when we moved to a different state I was in a new world and now a stay at home mom. I get the "bread winning" husband comments and how utterly boring it can be staying at home entertaining a kid with NO end in sight. But then you get so lost in how amazing they are and how lucky you are and that gives you balance. We aren't alone. People get us. Those people just also happen to be hot mess moms like ourselves striving to be better for our kids whether it be through crazy pinterest projects or a walk to the coffee shop. Bunmi gets us. And thank God she was able to capture that in her book. Sorry, I'm rambling but....there's a reason this book is SOLD OUT ON AMAZON right now...

Because it does take a village and unfortunately these days...we could all be better rather than shoving organic, breastfed, essential oil bs advice down some other moms throat while we sit in our lularoe leggings while we wear our "YES wraps"
• I will start with the disclaimer that I have 3 kids and it took me until like 10% into the book (kindle) to figure out that it was fiction. A decade ago I would have caught on a bit more quickly, but all bets are off now.
  
  The first thing to note is that I finished this book in 5 days. I am lucky to finish a 5 minute YouTube video in 5 days, much less a whole book, so that speaks volumes to me. I knew from following Bunmi on Facebook that it would be well done, even the writing style, but I didn't know how invested I would get in the character that she created.
  
  I laughed and cried *so* many times while reading Confessions of a Domestic Failure and straight up free flowed tears when I finished it. Bunmi has created a well written, relatable, real view of what it's like to be a mom. I don't often give books 5 stars, but this book earned it.
  
  - The mom that not only fed her 3 kids chicken nuggets and fries for dinner, but also had them cook dinner themselves
• It is a nice beach read. It reminds me of the "Red Dress" publishing genre that got big after Bridget Jones' Diary exploded. I've read hundreds of these chick-lit books that are entertaining but forgettable. I follow Bunmi's blog and the book has her voice for sure the main character is a well-meaning but messy mom; clumsy, lovable and goofy. There is a hint of depression, despair and a looming financial ruin looming - but like in any fairy tale it all ends up well, tied with a nice red bow. It is a good escapist book, a relaxing read with a few laughs sprinkled in, but one thing that annoyed me was how it all worked out so perfectly for the heroine. SPOILER Don't we all wish we could get cash, free furniture, trip to LA all expenses paid, a tribe of best friends, a loving forgiving husband, a helpful mother in law and a new career just like that? As someone who is struggling with all the aspects of adulthood, this made me want to toss the book across the room and possibly even burn it (out of jealousy?). Bunmi has always been the person that describes life as it is, in it's most raw and honest. I felt betrayed by this book full of saccharine sweetness, motherhood stereotypes and entitlement. I know it's a novel, not an auto-biography. I know that "happy" sells. But I could not relate to this middle class elitist utopia in which a wife has enough credit on her credit card to charge thousands of dollars without her husband noticing. I know Bunmi has a passionate following that will defend every word she writes (thus all the 5 star reviews). I read her blog for entertainment too, but in between the humor and the sarcasm, there is always honesty there. I felt that this book wasn't honest. She most likely wanted it that way. She wanted to write an escapist book to make her feel better about the tough choices we all have to make in life. She is a comedic writer after all. But I couldn't help but being disappointed. Maybe I hyped it up too much in my mind.
• I found it to be repetitive. She made the point early on that she was bored and out of touch with women her own age. She sort of beat that to death. I identified strongly with it, but the point was hammered home a little too arduously.
• This book is real. The writing is real. The feelings are real. So many times women are belittled by others for their feelings, but this book validates those of us who are real and honest.
  I thought this was a fun book and easy to read because the dialogue was realistic and not stilted as in some books. I would recommend this book for any mom who has felt like she is not perfect but should be, who doesn't fit what society says she should be.
  I first found the author on Facebook and enjoyed her sarcastic, irreverent posts. The book is true to her humor, funny without making it obvious. She did a great job on this book, I loved it.
• I love you, Bunmi!!! Thanks for writing this! I was looking forward to the release of this book and actually pre-ordered it, so proud of myself!!
  As a new, stay at home mom, no matter how much I love my own company and my son, this path gets lonely. This book is hilarious, and I was able to relate to it in every way! The best part is I finally felt understood! It reaches deeper than just a good laugh!

• I’m totally in love with this book! It has so many good ideas! I have a 17 month old and sometimes I’m at a loss when it comes to finding something fun or creative to do around the house. It’s nice being able to flip through this book at night after he’s asleep and pick out a few things to do! I read a lot of reviews for this book before ordering it and some people complained that the ideas were too simple and obvious. Yes— there are some simple ideas but they’re really great simple ideas! And having them all written down in one book that’s easy to reference is so great. I’m only on chapter 3 and have already marked so many pages with activities that I know he’ll love! I love the idea of the flashlight safari. Turning the light out and exploring the nursery with a flashlight and pointing out different stuffed animals. So cute and creative!
• These “creative” “ideas”/ activities are things any average human can think up without needing this book to do so. Do not purchase!
• I am currently an elementary school teacher who will be staying home with my 15 month old son soon. I bought this book to get ideas on how to keep my son busy in a productive way once I leave my job. I read it cover to cover. From an educator's perspective I think this book is great! There are a lot of activities that will help them build their foundational skills (gross and fine motor, numbers, letters, etc). Many are easily adaptable to whatever your needs are. I would say more of them are focused on toddlers a little older than my son, but there are still plenty for one year olds to stay occupied!
• Not the best in the world, I am sure, but its not a bad book either. We, as a creative family, keep many of the suggested items on hand (and I would recommend that anyone with small children keep a storage area filled with craft supplies), so it was nice to have some ideas of what to do with my 2 year old. While some of the ideas ARE very basic, sometimes the brain of a frazzled parent needs a jump start, and while you may say "well duh" after reading it, it might not be something you would have thought of right off to begin with.
  
  We have enjoyed lots of activites with this book, and while its not arranged by age groups, parents should be somewhat aware of what their child as an individual will be able to do/enjoy. If you have a two year old who likes to put small objects in their mouth then dont do those activities-its that simple! But the amount of games and ideas are good for a variety of stages in your toddlers development and can be great spur of the moment activities.
• This book has some good ideas for kids 1yr - 3yrs. You really have to sift around the book and mark what works for your little ones, but it's super handy to have on a shelf and grab when you're kiddos are having a "boring" day. Some of the ideas need to be amended to fit diff age groups, but most are fine the way they are written. Out of lots of books I bought to help with those Mommy Needs Help days...this one is the best.
• The book is interesting and gives nice ideas for activities with toddlers. I have to admit I only used few of the activities though. Most of the activities are for bigger toddlers, my daughter is only seventeen months and many of the activities stated in this book are still too early for her. Some activities are also repeated. Overall, it's a nice book to have for the ideas and I hope I can use it more when my daughter gets a bit older.
• The extensive sample pages on are what convinced me to buy this book. I was not disappointed. I found tons of great ideas for enriching play time with my toddler. Some of the ideas were simply variations of others, so to say "365" games and activities is a bit of a stretch, but the book does contain hundreds of great ideas for all circumstances (inside/outside, messy/clean, etc.), many requiring few or no supplies to be purchased. Other activities require items that can easily be saved from day-to-day household use (like milk containers and egg cartons). For a first-time parent or a day-care provider, this book is a fun and very useful resource.
• I am using this book along with the Preschooler's Busy Book to create Preschool homeschooling program for my 3 year old and almost 1 year old. With another sibling coming along in 8 months, these books will be getting a LOT of use)
  
  My only complaint (and this is nothing against Mrs. Kuffner's books) is that because I live overseas in a developing country the "everyday" items to use are extremely rare for me to find. In the States, it's fantastic! With the internet I can get almost everything, but I can't find some "everyday" items (such as spray paint). This is only a warning to anyone who might be considering these books and is living in developing nations (I know from experience that developed nations have almost all of the items she recommends readily available). For instance, flour is a precious commodity here and I won't use it to make fingerpaints or playdough.
  
  That said, I have recommended these books to other expats living here wanting to create their own homeschool programs for their preschoolers. Many of her ideas are even fascinating for my 11 year old.

• This was supposed to be an insiders look at how the Yankees operate. It started out that way and then segued into a recap of the 2018 season. A recap where the author somehow managed to forget that the Yankees were held tightly to a below $200M budget, of which roughly $21M was for a man who never played. I would love to have seen the story of how Ellsbury was signed after Cano went to Seattle. However when comparing how Boston fielded the better team [which they did] it might have been useful to mention that Boston allowed itself $40M more in payroll that the Yankee ownership allowed themselves. Not only wasn't this mentioned, but the whole logic of getting below the limit was never really discussed. Strange. Hence 4 stars instead of 5. I enjoyed the book but it was not the book I thought I was buying.
• Some interesting stories about how cashman rose to complete control of team, but other than that it seems like a 200 page slobfest over how “cool” aaron Boone is and how amazing cashman is. It’s like if Fox News wrote a book about president trump. Lots and lots of spin with some nice tidbits thrown in about torre, jeter and current players.
• Through most of the book, I had to remind myself that the Yankees won 100 games. Sanchez was a few feet short from winning game 4 of the ALDS but you're left with the feeling Stanton was a complete bust. If we had Martinez the Yankees would have won. Boone was a refreshing change from Girardi but Girardi would not have backed down from Cora. The most interesting sections dealt with the new business model that the Yankees have initiated, due to Cashman's vision and Hal's business acumen. Starting off with educating their young international players in English and how to deal with the press and incorporating good nutritional guidance, the Yankees will certainly continue to have good young players come up through their system.
• When reading sports books like this I don't expect more than a light read on the 10th or 11th grade level, this book reads at that level but is so poorly but together and comically one-sided it was a chore to get through the second half of what should be a 3-hour read. The entire gist of the book all post 2000 Yankees except the "Core Four" were bad guys who were overpaid and couldn't perform in New York and cost the Core Four titles. The authors make a point to cherry pick A-Rods 2005 & 2007 playoff stats but ignore his 2009 playoffs where he nearly single-handedly carried the team. Joe Torre is a bad manager because he was more interested in celebrity and money. Joe Girardi is bad manager because he wasn't friends with everyone. Aaron Boone is a great manager months into his career because he's friendly with the team. The 2018 Yankees are "real" Yankees because they came through the Yankee system and aren't free agents who dare to make a lot of money. The "new" Yankees are all about developing players the "Yankee way" and not overpaying for free agents. Well except for Stanton, he's a great guy and hard worker, but he makes a lot of money, but Cashman fleeced Jeter anyway in taking Stanton because Cashman is the smartest guy in the world. Stanton can never be Judge though, because Stanton isn't a real Yankee and is super rich and dresses too flashy. Judge, in his second season of which he missed half is held up as one of the great all-time leaders in sports , comparable to Jeter, Brady, Montana, Messier. There's any entire chapter devoted to fawning over Randy Levine and his ability to screw over the city and tax payers by getting incredible concession in building the new stadium. The running theme of this book is trying to make Cashman into a Billy Beane/Moneyball type hero. Far too much of the book is dedicated to Cashman's genius into remaking the team by building a team of "quants" that use data to analyze players, exactly what every other team except maybe the Pirates has been doing for 15 years. The final agony in slogging through what I expected to be an easy read is the authors trying to shoehorn terrible and obvious jokes in as often as they can (and awkwardly using parentheses to do so) If this was designed to be a Yankee propaganda book for kids and dumb people, it's fine. If not, it's an embarrassment.
• I first heard about this book in an interview the author did with a local radio station. I thought it was going to be the real dirt on what was going on inside the empire with Jeter and Torre. It started off talking about that stuff, but then it went into pretty much a detailed run down of the Yankees season ranging from the lowest rung semi pro squad up to the big league team. I liked learning some of the stuff about what the club does for the latin american prospects, but I was looking to read more about how much of a prima-donna Jeter really was.
• The book had some good inside stories but they were things that could have been covered in a 4 or 5 part series in the Sunday paper or Sports Illustrated. I got through it pretty quickly and was left wanting more. Maybe more of a history of George Steinbrenner's motivation behind his moves. Also would have enjoyed knowing more about how Cashman did things on a day to day basis.
• Really haven't read a sports book quite like this. If you are interested in learning about the inside culture of the most iconic baseball team in history, I'm sure you will like this. It feels like the author took his time writing it and the editing was crisp, which is refreshing for a sports book these days.
• Absolute garbage of a book. I agree with every negative comment that other people have said in previous reviews. I saw these authors interviewed on the Michael Kay show and believed Michael,s hype about this being a great book and I pre-ordered it right then. Do not waste your money. If you really want to read this just wait for it at the library or Goodwill stores- there will be plenty of them donated after other people read them and realize they wasted their hard-earned money on this garbage. Life-long Yankees fan here, who has read many baseball and Yankees books and this was an absolute waste of my money. I just hope I save others from wasting the money for which they work so hard.

• Jason Rezaian's book offers a rare glimpse into Iran for any American since the 1970s. The book truly isn't what you might expect- it's far from simply an account of his time in Evin Prison. • When someone comes up to Jason Rezaian, throws their arm around him, and wants to hear all the juicy bits about how he underwent torture at the hands of his Iranian jailers, they are somewhat taken aback when they discover that he wasn't physically assaulted, but underwent trauma at an even deeper level of the soul. To such a person, it is not as vicariously thrilling. But to read this generous and at times humorous memoir is to experience what this man suffered for 18 months, not knowing whether he was going to walk free or undergo worse. And during the early part, suffering the anxiety of not knowing what Yegi, his wife, was facing since she had been arrested at the same time as he. It takes nothing away from the page-turning quality of this book to know that they both survived their ordeals and live in the United States. In fact, whole sections reduced me to tears. The continued efforts on the part of Yegi, his mother and brother Ali, as well as his Washington Post confederates, were instrumental in securing his release, but it is his spirit and his ability to find something to laugh at each and every day that has made his eventual healing possible.
  
  As with most books written by reporters, the writing here is clear, sharp and to the point. Last night I had the privilege of seeing him in conversation with W. Kameau Bell, his wife and mother also in the room. His persona is one of gentle humorousness, intelligence, and makes me all the happier that things have turned out as they did for him.
• Rezaian is a Washington Post reporter who got imprisoned in Iran (where he held dual citizenship) for the “crime” of reporting on public events. So did his wife, I guess for being his wife. Iran has a nasty habit of seizing hostages to use as bargaining chips. The book takes you through the story of his imprisonment and eventual release, and the friends (and enemies) he made in prison. There’s a good account (toward the end) of the Obama Administration’s reasoning and thinking in its Iran negotiations. What comes across is that Rezaian loves Iran’s people and feels deep sorrow for the way its oppressive government has betrayed them. A good read.
• When I saw Mr Rezaian on the news mentioning he wrote a book, I immediately downloaded it. The story is absorbing. Most Americans should remember the news stories about the WP journalists held in Iran at the end of Obama's tenure, but to read about the story from one of the prisoner's point of view is so important.
  The book reads like a great story - And it is. I could not put it down.
• Jason Rezaian will make you laugh out loud and bring you to tears in his book, “PRISONER My 544 Days in an Iranian Prison — Solitary Confinement, a Sham Trial, High-Stakes Diplomacy, and the Extraordinary Efforts It Took to Get Me Out”.
  
  Part thriller, part love story, Rezaian tells his real life story as a literal bargaining chip in negotiations for the Iran nuclear deal. What is even more impressive than his courage and strength throughout the whole story is his humor. “Project Avocado”, “ Wolkswagons, Wolvos and BMVs”, “Jackie Chan month”, “Espy” and “The Star-Spangled Banner” had me laughing through his nightmare in Evin Prison.

• Jason's experiences in Iran as a political prisoner are jaw-dropping thought-stimulating - it is difficult to imagine the overnight transition from being someone who enjoys thinking, writing and human interactions, to being locked up in solitary confinement with mental torture through interrogation. Jason writes in a very straightforward style, without being overly-detailed. Although I knew how the story was going to end, I was on the edge of my seat as Jason went through the Iranian court process. It was very gratifying when Jason and his wife & mother were able to 'escape' from Iran and return to the US, to restart their life.
• Rezaian pens a profoundly humanizing story, despite his captors continually trying to dehumanize him. This memoir reads like a fiction page-turner, partly because so few of us can relate to anything remotely like what he faced. Despite this hauntingly horrible reality he faced, Rezain’s magnanimity and wit seemed ever-present. Without trying to sound like a scmaltzy movie review, his is the ultimate triumph of the human spirit. (I finished it in two days, couldn’t put it down!)
• This is a book I could not put down. I cannot imagine myself in the situation Washington Post reporter Jason Rezaian found himself, in an Iranian prison, for months on end, trying to preserve his sanity.
  
  His story is at times both terrifying and funny. It is also a cautionary tale of the evils a theocracy can visit on its own people. But it's also a story of family love, something all of us share no matter the religion or culture in which we grew up.
  
  I highly encourage you to read Jason's story. You'll also learn about the avocados.
